HOW TO BECOME A SPONSOR OF THE FATHER JOE POOR FAMILIES PROGRAM
The purpose of the Father Joe Poor Families Program (FJPFP) is to facilitate the American sponsorship of Ecuadorian poor families who live below the poverty level. The administrative costs of the program are covered by friends of the FJPFP and the resale shop, Nonnie’s Long Lake Emporium. As a result, your entire contribution is given directly to the poor families.
The Ecuadorian poor are given $20 a month. The funds are accepted by the mother of the family and they are required to sign or provide a thumb print as evidence of receipt.
The poor families are identified by a resident committee who are familiar with the needs of the poor neighborhoods. Donors submit donations in monthly increments, or in three, six or a twelve month amount of $240. No obligation is established with the sponsors. Sponsors are not solicited but learn of the program by word of mouth or by a video created by those of us who have visited the poor Ecuadorian families. The mission is visited annually to ensure the program is operating correctly.
